Civilization V Mod - Historic Earth
This Civilization V custom map script, written in Lua, was created to add true-start civilisation locations on a world map (as in, London spawns on the British Isles, Istanbul on the Bosphorus), while also placing resources in roughly historic regions, and distorting the map to enlarge significant regions (such as Europe and Japan). Finally, the map was made to work in multiplayer.
- Reverse-engineered vanilla map generations to obtain balanced resource frequencies, and terrain designs.
- Undertook play-test sessions and sought out balance issues, adjusted accordingly.
- Browsed AAA studio generation-script to comprehend map-gen procedure.
- Used mod code-base to accomplish city-placement, and applied workaround system where functionality had not been exposed by the developers (in the case of City-State placement).
